JavaScript Engineer

Job description

Who is looking for you?

We, the Development team, are leading the effort to build the coolest new features for Fixico’s customers and partners. Together with our awesome team of product owners, developers and designers we are always on a mission to seek new challenges and to explore the boundaries of new technologies.

Why do you want to meet us (on purpose or by accident)

In this role, you will have the opportunity to build and deploy products that will be used by our ‘crash pilots’ all over Europe. Our projects are built on top of the latest technologies and we are always looking for new and creative ways of solving problems (and sometimes create new ones) using open source software as well as custom build projects.

We fully embrace an agile workflow, which means we want to move fast and implement great ideas as soon as possible. All input is much appreciated and great ideas and well-back projects are always encouraged.

We love working with new languages, frameworks or other cool projects you find in GitHub Trending, Hackernews, /r/javascript or Product Hunt.

Our stack

As a JavaScript Engineer at Fixico you will be working with, but not limited to, React, Redux, Styled Components, Storybook, Webpack, ESLint and any other framework you or other developers might see fit to our projects. We are currently looking into using more of the infrastructure provided by Node.js and implement tooling like Server Side Rendering and WebSockets.

Let’s be honest for a second and embrace the fact that we also have some legacy apps built on top of Angular, Backbone, Gulp and Grunt, but we are trying to clean-up the mess ;)

Besides the technology you will be directly working with, you will also be free to interact with back-end engineers and work with their technologies such as Golang, PHP, Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible, CI/CD Pipelines, Microservices and all that cool stuff.

Requirements

Your strength consists of

  • Being comfortable with the React & Redux architecture
  • Experience with working independently on bigger projects
  • Experience with ES6 syntax (via Babel)
  • Knowledge of testing mechanisms for front-end apps such as, but not limited to, Mocha, Karma, Enzyme or anything else you think might fit (we are open for suggestions ;) )
  • Experience with version control systems (Git and GitHub)
  • Experience with REST API's (GraphQL is a big plus)

If you're comfortable working with colleagues from all over the world that are flexible, laugh together and work really hard to create a world leading brand, then send us your GitHub and hopefully we will bump into each other very soon.

What’s in it for you

  • The rare opportunity to build a world leading brand
  • Unlimited vacation policy
  • An open, transparent working environment
  • A young, talented and extremely driven team
  • Plenty of responsibility and opportunity to grow
  • A great lunch prepared for you everyday to activate your creativity
  • Friday drinks on our huge balcony
  • A roller coaster experience you’ll never forget
  • An inspiring office view overlooking the Rijksmuseum in the heart of Amsterdam
