Job description

About Fixico

Fixico is a leading European technology platform that transforms how fleets manage vehicle repair and maintenance.

Through Fixico One, we bring repair and maintenance together in one connected platform and marketplace. This gives fleet operators more control over costs, lead times and quality. Today, more than 250 businesses use Fixico, supported by a network of 15,000+ repair partners across Europe. Now we're taking our next big step: the US market.

About the role

Every repair job on our platform needs to find the right shop. Our matching already combines smart technology with the expertise of our operations team. Now we want to make it fully automated, measurable and ready for the US.

We're looking for the engineer who leads that. You'll set the vision, make the key calls and build the engine that decides which shop gets which job. You start lean, with our Product Manager for dispatch and our Data Scientist. You ship a first version fast, prove it works and grow the team from there.

The heart of the job: steer a job to the best shop, invite several shops to quote, or combine both. And do it without double bookings, lost quotes or lower shop acceptance.

What you will be doing

  • Set the technical vision and own the architecture for search, matching and allocation

  • Ship a first working version fast, then scale it market by market

  • Build the dispatch flow: steering, tendering and a hybrid cascade with timers, retries and escalation

  • Build a scoring layer we can tune for speed, price, lead time or quality, without a rebuild

  • Make the build versus buy calls and decide where AI adds value

  • Grow the team around the engine, while staying hands-on and building the hard parts yourself

Tech stack

The engine will be its own service, and you choose how it’s built. Language and framework are your call. The condition: your fellow engineers need to be able to maintain and extend it, so you weigh that in every choice.
For context, the rest of our platform runs on PHP (Laravel) and
Node.js, with React and Next.js on the frontend, on Google Cloud and Kubernetes.

Job requirements

  • 8+ years of engineering experience at Staff, Principal or Lead level, and writing production code in the last 3 years

  • You've built the first version of a matching, allocation, dispatch or assignment engine yourself, not just tuned an existing one

  • Deep experience with event-driven, long-running workflows: state machines, idempotency, retries, timeouts, at-least-once processing, outbox or saga patterns. Temporal, Cadence or Camunda is a strong plus

  • You've replaced a live system while it kept running, using shadow mode or gradual cutover, without losing performance

  • Experience with a two-sided marketplace where suppliers have limited capacity, like delivery, ride-hailing, freight or repair networks. You know how allocation choices affect supplier engagement

  • You make good decisions with limited data: cold start, calibration, experimentation or bandits. Our markets have hundreds of shops each, not millions of listings

  • You've been the lead technical voice next to Product and Data, setting direction and making build versus buy calls

  • Fluent English; Dutch is a plus

Nice to have

  • Tendering, RFQ or auction mechanics

  • Experience in mobility, automotive or insurance

Why join us

You'll lead the system at the centre of our business, with our CPO as your sponsor. You start small and shape how it grows, including the team. Your work decides how thousands of repair shops get work, and it's key to our US launch. You'll join a talented international engineering team in Amsterdam and Sri Lanka, and work from our office overlooking the Rijksmuseum.
